THE EPIC OF GLORY

History of Islamic Resistance in Lebanon (1 parte)

Dagoberto Husayn Bellucci

a cura dell'Ufficio Politico di Hezballah - Per una storia del Movimento di Resistenza Islamica in Libano.

The historic victory of the Islamic Resistance over the Zionist occupation's army in May 2000 crowned a series of successive victories that had been achieved over two decades as a result of the strife of the Resistance fighters who sacrificed their souls and bloods for the sake of liberating their homeland and the revival of their Ummah. The sacrifices of these Freedom Fighters have been inscibed in history in the following stops that reflect the development of the Islamic Resistance's march of confronting the Zionist aggression.

THE INVASION - 1982 the Outset of the Islamic Resistance -
June 1982 , the Israeli military strenghth is at the peak of superiority. the enemy starts inveding Lebanese territories, besieges Beirut, controls the South and the Mountain, and marches towards the Beqaa Valley. Outposts fall and the Lebanese and Palestinian armed groups retreat under the heavy US-backed invasion.

On the ninth of June, three days after the beginning of the Invasion, the Zionist Army encountered an efficient military interception at the Khalde Triangle (the southern entrance of Beirut) as Islamic militants groups clashed with the invading forces killing a number of zionist soldier and capturing a tank after destroyying a convoy of vehicles, thus heralding the outset of the Islamic Resistacne. Amidst the defence of the capital that went on for two months, people were invited to join the training courses that were organized by the Islamic Revolutionary Guards; a lot of faithful young men from several Lebanese areas answered the call, and the core of the combatant units that called themselves Hezbollah (the Party of God) was established.

The vanguard of these Freedom Fighter started to infiltrate into the occupied South and embarked on extending the base of the Resistance whose march was not easy , for this was not a classical war. Bullets alone would not bring life back to the frustrated Ummah; the weapon of martyrdom had to be used , where can be achieved only when one carries one's blood and blows it up in the face of the invaders.
